Disclaimer
1. Nature of the service
TNAADO Answers is a free, experimental information project. It is not a paid service. TNAADO Inc. is not your service provider, adviser or agent, there is no client relationship, and we do not owe you the duties, service standards or warranties that a paid service provider would owe under a contract for services. See Terms of Use.
2. General information only
Everything on answers.tnaado.ca is general information published for the public. It is not legal, tax, financial or other professional advice. TNAADO Answers is not a law firm and does not provide legal services. Reading or using the Site does not create a lawyer-client or any other professional relationship between you and TNAADO Inc.
3. Rules and policies change
Laws, regulations, fees, deadlines and retailer policies change, and they differ between countries, states and provinces. Each guide lists the official sources it relies on and shows the date they were read and a "last verified" date. A guide may be out of date after that date. Always check the official source linked on the page before you rely on a rule or policy.
4. Your situation is different
A guide describes how a rule generally works. It cannot take account of your own facts. For a decision that matters, ask a licensed lawyer or paralegal, accountant or other qualified professional. In Ontario, Legal Aid Ontario can point you to legal clinics and other help.
5. No guarantee of an outcome
Following a guide does not guarantee a refund, a reimbursement, a successful dispute or any other result. Retailers, card issuers, regulators and courts make their own decisions. We cannot resolve an order or obtain a refund for you; contact the retailer or your card issuer.
6. No affiliation
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any government, regulator, tribunal, retailer or payment company mentioned on the Site, including the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau in the United States. The Site does not use government seals or logos. Names, marks and logos of third parties belong to their owners and are used only to refer to them. A retailer's current policy page always controls over our summary of it.
7. Third-party information and links
We cite and link to official pages and other third-party sources. We do not control them and do not guarantee that they are accurate, complete or still available.
8. Tools, calculators and letter templates
Calculators and checklists give estimates from the figures and rules shown on the page. Letter generators fill in a general-purpose template with the details you type; the result is a draft, not legal advice, and we do not review it, send it or guarantee it will be accepted or work. Check any result against the official source before you act on it, and consider asking a licensed professional before sending a letter about a dispute that matters. What you enter stays in your browser; see the Privacy Policy.
9. Advertising
The Site shows advertisements served by Google AdSense, labelled "Advertisement". Advertisers do not write or approve our guides, and an ad is not an endorsement or a recommendation. We do not currently use affiliate links; if a page ever has one, it will be labelled next to the link.
10. If you have been scammed
Do not wait for a guide. In the United States, report fraud at reportfraud.ftc.gov. In Canada, report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre. In both countries, contact your bank or card issuer immediately.
11. Accuracy and availability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Site is provided "as is" and "as available". Content and figures may be wrong, incomplete or stale, and the Site may be unavailable or change at any time. Government rules, fees and policies change. Verify anything that matters at the official source before you rely on it. See Terms of Use.
12. Limitation of liability and reliance
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TNAADO Inc. is not liable for loss arising from your use of or reliance on the Site, including indirect and consequential loss, lost profit and the losses listed in the Terms of Use. Because the Site is free, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid, which is nil. This does not limit liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything the law does not let us limit. If you are a consumer, rights under consumer protection law such as Ontario's Consumer Protection Act, 2002 that cannot be waived remain yours. You use the Site at your own risk and should not rely on it alone for a decision with legal, financial, tax, health, safety, immigration, customs or travel consequences. See Terms of Use and section 6.
13. Commercial use
The Site is for personal, non-commercial, informational use. Commercial use of the Site or its content and systems, and reproducing them, is not allowed without our written permission (see Terms of Use). To the fullest extent permitted by law, TNAADO is not liable for commercial use of the Site or for losses a business or other commercial user suffers by relying on it; this does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited (see the Terms of Use). See Terms of Use.
14. Sources and basis
- Law Society Act (Ontario), s. 1(5)-(6) and s. 26.1: giving advice about a person's legal rights is providing legal services, which only licensees may do. This site publishes general information only and says so.
- Federal Trade Commission, Impersonation Rule (16 CFR 461.2) and Endorsement Guides (16 CFR 255.5): no claim of government affiliation, and disclosure of paid connections next to a link.
- Trademark names used only to refer to the real entity (nominative use, 15 U.S.C. 1125(c)(3)(A)).
- Limits on liability, as-is wording and the commercial-use ban are explained, with their legal basis and limits, in the Terms of Use.
- A disclaimer cannot turn individual legal advice into general information; the guides are written as general information. Not reviewed by counsel: see the notice at the top of this page.
